We love seeing how our clients use the mPS. And it’s especially satisfying when we know it’s having an impact on key numbers.
As you’ll see in our webinars or case studies, clients use our tool for different reasons. Digitalization is often mentioned as a goal, mainly as a means of driving greater efficiency, visibility and traceability.
Alongside this is a desire to connect processes, machines, and people, so that quality defects are reduced and factories communicate more freely within corporate groups.
Whatever the specific objective, underneath it all is usually a wish to reduce waste and increase profitability.
The mPS is ready to be adapted to whatever short, medium, or long term goals your factory has. Its comprehensive suite of modules can fit around any factory set up.
But ultimately, whatever configuration you have on site, its key benefit is how it helps you save time, effort, and money.
So, using the latest usage figures for this year*, we’ve produced an estimate of its global impact, including;
Saving time
TPM
TPM (Total Preventive Maintenance) showed the highest usage stats of any mPS tool, with 960,921 points recorded throughout the year.
We thought we’d try and break this down to estimate its real impact on the shop floor.
Customers use TPM to help ensure machines keep running and unplanned downtime is minimized through better maintenance drills.
If it achieves this successfully it can be hard to account for it properly; after all, how can you measure something that’s been avoided?
Let’s say for the sake of argument that 30 seconds of potential downtime are saved with each TPM point. If that were true, then:
- 480,460.5 minutes of downtime were saved this year
- This is equal to 8,008 hours, or…
- 333 days
This is just an estimate, so this number is unlikely to be 100% accurate. But in all likelihood, much more downtime has been saved thanks to this extremely popular module.
Audits
In our case study with OPMobility, they revealed that each use of Master Audit saves them at least 10 minutes in non-value added labor.
This is a great saving, particularly on the shop floor when every lost minute costs you.
So assuming this is true for every customer, what would that saving look like across our user base?
612,523 audits were performed in total this year. So if each one saved 10 minutes, that would be over 6 million minutes not spent on admin.
In other words, our customers have saved;
- 102,087 hours,
- 4,253 days, or…
- 11 years on admin
What would you do with that time?
Well, they say it takes 10,000 hours to become a genius at something. The time saved from Audits could produce 10 geniuses.
If that doesn’t put the number in perspective, you could also spend this time learning 77 languages to proficiency.
Taking action
This past year, users performed 263,766 actions in the mPS, of which 219,440 are verified actions.
Each one of these actions represents a saving of some kind; money here, or time there.
It’s like an index of efficiency improvements.
If we take every kind of action performed in-app, from implementing a problem solving measure, to completing a maintenance task, through to a 5S update, there’s a lot of range in the value of those measures.
This would make an estimate of its direct impact very tricky. So we won’t put a monetary value to this.
Instead, we ask you to imagine 220,000 of the following:
- Notifications sent to workers for actions
- Actions carried out that lead to small improvements
- Small improvements that drive efficiency and profitability.
Many of these small improvements would never have happened without the mPS. That’s fresh value unleashed from the production line that didn’t exist before thanks to this system.
Clearly, we’re not talking about pennies!
Getting rid of spreadsheets
Are you a fan of spreadsheets? If so, you’re probably in a minority… but we’re sure you’ll agree that spreadsheets aren’t always the best method of capturing and organizing info.
Antolin’s Tlaxcala plant used over 100 spreadsheets to manage shop floor data before they adopted the mPS. That’s an awful lot of admin.
If every plant we worked with used half this number, we’ve helped prevent over 25,000 spreadsheets from existing.
We won’t even try to estimate how much time this has saved in data entry, spreadsheet management, and follow-up…
Improving engagement
19,982 improvement ideas were recorded this year.
This means that there were just under 20,000 instances of someone spotting a way to improve a process and making sure it got recorded.
Every single improvement idea submitted is evidence of engagement from workers and the development of a culture of continuous improvement.
We’re pleased to see such a high number across mPS factories this year. Here’s to many more!
Centralization
And now for the most impressive number of them all.
How many platforms did our customers use to enhance their lean processes, from shop floor to office?
1.*
*For those not in the know...
The mPS is a comprehensive modular system for lean manufacturing.
Running from pre to post production, its toolbox helps you cover every part of the production line with a digital scaffold for continuous improvement.
And better yet, everything input into the mPS is 100% traceable. So it allows you to both make continuous improvements and centralize all the info you need to plan the next ones.
Bring on 2026
It’s been another fantastic year for the mPS and our customers around the world. Thanks to everyone that made these numbers possible.
If you’re not yet a customer of ours, we hope you’ll make next year’s roundup!
